As an Economic Analyst at the Department of Education, you will….

Provide economic advice and engage with business areas to support the development of policy and inform decision making across the department, from early childhood education and care to schools and the higher education sector. We do this by leveraging our expertise in economic analysis and econometric techniques, which is informed by literature, to analyse the effects of education policy and forecast key education indicators.

In this role, you will be responsible for the following:

- Lead the implementation and application of economic models, including econometric, structural, behavioural, time series, forecasting and microsimulation models, to assess the likely impacts of policy proposals and support evidence-based decision making.
- Analyse survey and administrative datasets using economic frameworks to identify trends and diagnose policy issues.
- Apply causal inference and economics research techniques to understand drivers of outcomes and assess the effectiveness of government interventions.
- Prepare high-quality briefings,



reports, literature reviews, presentations and written advice that clearly communicate analytical findings, methodologies, assumptions and recommendations to senior decision makers and non-technical audiences.
- Present findings and strategic advice to key stakeholders, including Senior Executives, government agencies and policy partners, building understanding of economic evidence and its implications for policy development and implementation.
