Jungle Zoo Early Learning Centre – Whitsundays QLD

Jungle Zoo Early Learning Centre is seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance & Handyperson to join our team on a part-time basis. Based in Whitsundays, QLD, this role is essential to maintaining the safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of our early learning facility. You will be responsible for ensuring that our premises remain in excellent condition, supporting our mission to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children and staff. This position offers the flexibility of part-time work whilst making a meaningful contribution to our centre's operations.

What you'll be doing

Performing routine maintenance tasks including painting, repairs, and general upkeep of the building interior and exterior

Conducting regular inspections of facilities, equipment, and grounds to identify and address maintenance issues promptly

Responding to maintenance requests from staff in a timely manner to minimise disruption to centre operations

Maintaining outdoor play areas, including equipment checks, repairs, and safety assessments

Managing basic plumbing, electrical, and carpentry tasks as required

Ensuring compliance with health and safety standards and early learning facility regulations

Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs completed

Liaising with contractors and external service providers when specialist work is required

Keeping maintenance tools and equipment organised and in good working order

What we're looking for

Proven experience in maintenance, handyperson work, or a related trade within the Maintenance & Handyperson Services field

Knowledge of building maintenance practices and health and safety regulations applicable to early learning facilities

Proficiency in using hand and power tools safely and effectively





Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritise tasks independently

Excellent attention to detail, particularly regarding child safety and facility standards

Physical fitness and capability to perform tasks that may require lifting, climbing, or working at heights

Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic and commitment to maintaining high standards

Valid driver's licence (desirable)

Current Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain one

Relevant qualifications in a trade (such as carpentry, plumbing, or electrical work) are advantageous
