Collections Officer – Entry Level

Looking to start your career in collections, debt recovery or the legal sector?

We’re recruiting on behalf of a well-established debt recovery firm in Cheltenham for an Entry Level Collections Officer to join their Commercial, Consumer & Legal Recoveries team.

No previous collections experience is required. You’ll work closely with two experienced Senior Collections Officers who will support you as you learn the debt recovery process, build your confidence speaking with customers and clients, and gradually take on greater responsibility.

Better still, once you successfully complete your probation, the business will fund further study to support you in becoming a qualified/accredited Collections Officer.

What you’ll be doing

- Learning the end-to-end debt recovery and collections process with support from senior team members
- Contacting customers by phone, email and written correspondence regarding outstanding accounts
- Building confidence in discussing payment options and negotiating appropriate payment arrangements
- Following up outstanding payments and agreed payment commitments
- Maintaining accurate account notes, records and correspondence within internal systems
- Assisting with documentation and administration relating to debt recovery and legal matters
- Learning when matters need to be escalated and supporting Senior Collections Officers with more complex accounts
- Working closely with the wider team to deliver professional and respectful outcomes for clients and customers

What you’ll bring We’re looking for someone at the beginning of their career who is keen to learn and develop within the industry. You don’t need previous collections experience,



but you will ideally bring:

- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Confidence speaking with people over the phone
- A professional, mature and empathetic approach
- Good attention to detail and organisational skills
- The ability to remain calm and professional during challenging conversations
- Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new systems
- A willingness to learn, take feedback and develop your skills
- Previous experience or study within a legal environment would be highly regarded, but is not essential

The role offers a salary of $55,000–$65,000 + super, depending on experience, and is full-time and on-site in Cheltenham, Monday to Friday.
