Our NSW Government client are hiring for a Microsoft Word Template Designer to join the organisation. In this role the successful candidate will: design and build templates utilised by business users to generate letters and documents. This role will own the end‑to‑end development of templates within the custom template design tool - from requirements gathering and template design, through to development of the template itself, data-mapping, unit testing, documentation, and handover-ensuring the templates are robust, secure, and easy for business users to operate.

Day Rate: $352.92 + Super
Start Day: 19/10/2026
Initial End Date: 19/05/2026 - Chance of Extension
Location: Sydney CBD (2000). 2 to 3 days in office and the rest working from home.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop Microsoft Word templates integrated with CRM systems.
- Build and maintain forms for user input.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Ensure templates comply with branding standards.
- Test and validate templates for accuracy, performance, and reliability.
- Provide documentation, training, and support for end users.
- Manage version control and deployment of templates across environments.

About You





- A high-level knowledge of Microsoft Word template development: content controls, fields, styles, and building blocks.
- Knowledge of Word formatting and layout: corporate branding, stylesheets, numbering, tables, headers/footers, mail merge alternatives, and printable/PDF-ready outputs.
- Ability to create guided forms, validate inputs, handle errors, and orchestrate document assembly.
- Strong understanding of template governance: version control, deployment, and update strategies.
- Rigorous testing practices: unit/integration testing for template logic, edge‑case handling, performance, and regression coverage.
- UX for business users: explicit prompts, helpful validation messages, and intuitive workflows to reduce training overhead.
- Documentation & knowledge transfer: creating user guides and technical notes where required.
- Strong stakeholder engagement: requirements elicitation, solution design walkthroughs, and iterative feedback management.
- Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail, consistency, and maintainability.
