EVENT PHOTOGRAPHER (Contract) for High School Formals

About us

Your Photographer is a Brisbane based company that has photographed high school formals and events for over 20 years. Schools keep coming back because we deliver consistent, professional results every time. We're looking for 2 to 3 contract photographers to join our crew for formal season across Brisbane, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast, and Ipswich.

The must haves for this role

- Available for the four busiest dates in 2026 listed below

- Your own mid or pro level camera body, a 24 to 70mm (or 24 to 105mm) lens A current Blue Card, or willing to apply for one
- An ABN and reliable transport

- Experience photographing people (weddings, events, parties, or portraits), with a portfolio to show it

The upcoming dates

- Tuesday 17 November from 3:30pm, either Sunshine Coast or Brisbane

- Wednesday 18 November from 4pm, Brisbane

- Thursday 19 November from 4pm, either Brisbane or Tamborine

- Friday 20 November from 7am until around 12 or 1pm, graduations in Brisbane

Most events run 5 to 7 hours, so expect to finish as late as 11pm.

What the job looks like

Depending on the event and your skills, you could be roving, shooting in our studio setup, or doing both.

Roving

- Car and red carpet arrivals

- Friend groups, family photos, and table shots

- Speeches and award presentations

- Dancing and candids

- Year level cohort photos of 50 to 120 students

- All shot on your own camera with flash

Studio
- Posed student portraits, from individuals to large groups

- Shot to our house style and brief





- All lighting gear supplied

You will also help with setup and pack down, which involves some lifting.

This role shoot only, with no editing. You'll hand over your cards at the end of the night.

Dress code: We provide a polo shirt, you wear black business pants and closed in black shoes.

Nice to have

- Experience using on camera flash at events
- A backup camera body and a speedlight
