The Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action is seeking an Asset Support Officer to provide day-to-day technical and administrative support for the management of critical assets that underpin Forest Fire Management Victoria (FFMVic) and broader emergency management operations.

This is an opportunity to join a purpose-driven team responsible for ensuring assets are safe, reliable, compliant and ready to support day-to-day operations and emergency response activities. You will work with Asset Managers, asset operators and service providers to coordinate maintenance, maintain accurate asset information and support asset lifecycle and governance processes.

The role also supports the ongoing maintenance of aerial ignition systems, specialist airbase equipment and associated technology. It combines asset administration with practical technical and mechanical activities in a fast-paced operational environment.

As an Asset Support Officer, you will coordinate planned and reactive maintenance, maintain asset records, liaise with service providers and provide practical support to ensure critical assets remain operationally ready.

About the role

You will bring:

- experience providing technical, mechanical or administrative support within an asset management, maintenance or operational environment
- the technical capability to diagnose, repair and maintain assigned assets safely
- experience coordinating planned and reactive maintenance, including raising work requests, scheduling activities, following up outstanding work and confirming completion
- the ability to maintain accurate asset registers, condition information, maintenance histories and supporting documentation




- solid organisational skills and experience supporting planning activities, meetings, action tracking and governance processes
- the ability to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, asset operators, contractors and external service providers
- a commitment to safe work practices, customer service, continuous improvement and operational readiness
- the ability to support Asset Management Accountability Framework-aligned asset class planning, lifecycle management, maintenance and statutory compliance
- a current driver’s licence appropriate to the fleet and willingness to obtain a higher-class licence if required
- a forklift licence (LF), or willingness to obtain one if required.

This role requires the ability to perform physically demanding activities, including heavy lifting, sustained standing, manual handling and work in restricted or awkward environments.

The primary work location is Kyle Road, Altona North. Due to the physical and operational focus of the role, it is expected to be undertaken from the workplace unless prior approval is provided. Significant travel across Victoria may be required.

The position may also require flexible working hours, including weekends and public holidays during peak fire seasons, and regular participation in emergency management roles.

This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is Kyle Road, Altona North with hybrid work arrangements available.
