Asset Classes: Wind, PV, BESS The opportunity An Australian renewable energy owner and developer is seeking a Finance Director for an initial fixed term term. The business has a lean team and a portfolio of generation and energy storage opportunities at different stages of development.
This is a hands-on leadership role with a broad remit. You will oversee the finance function, give the leadership team clear visibility of cash and project economics, and support commercial decisions as the portfolio progresses. The role will suit someone who can move comfortably between detailed financial work and discussions with senior stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management and financial reporting across the business and its projects.
- Maintain robust financial controls, statutory compliance and oversight of external accounting, tax and audit advisers.
- Provide financial analysis for project development, investment decisions, transactions and potential funding arrangements.
- Review project models and assumptions, working closely with development and commercial colleagues to identify risks and opportunities.
- Prepare transparent financial reporting and recommendations for the executive team, investors and board.
- Oversee finance processes and systems, improving them where needed without adding unnecessary complexity.
- Manage the day-to-day priorities of the finance function and provide practical support across a lean team.
About you
You will bring senior finance experience from renewable energy, infrastructure, utilities or another capital-intensive environment. You may be a Finance Director, CFO or senior finance leader who enjoys being close to the work.
You will have strong financial control and reporting credentials, commercial judgement, and experience supporting investment or project decisions.
Exposure to project finance, transactions or asset ownership would be valuable. Just as important is your ability to work independently, build trust quickly and make sound decisions when priorities shift.
