We are looking for an experienced and proactive Accounts Officer to join our Brisbane-based team.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys being organised, solving problems and taking ownership of their work. You'll be responsible for keeping the day-to-day accounts function running smoothly and ensuring invoices, payments, reconciliations, customer accounts and financial administration are accurate and up to date.
We're looking for someone who is confident communicating with people, comfortable following things up and takes pride in getting the details right.
Immediate start available. This is a full time on site position.
What you'll be doing
Accounts Payable & Creditors
Process supplier invoices and payments accurately and within agreed terms.
Review and reconcile supplier statements.
Follow up outstanding invoices, discrepancies and account queries.
Liaise directly with suppliers to resolve pricing, invoicing and payment issues.
Ensure invoices are correctly coded, approved and entered into the accounting system.
Identify and escape issues requiring management attention.
Accounts Receivable & Banking
Receipt and allocate customer payments accurately and promptly.
Monitor outstanding customer balances and assist with follow-up.
Reconcile credit card, fuel and other business accounts.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and client job records.
Purchasing & Administration
Create and process purchase orders.
Assist with supplier account setup and maintenance.
Maintain organised and accessible financial documentation.
Provide general administrative support across the accounts function.
Payroll & Accounting Support
Assist with the preparation and processing of payroll.
Support daily accounting processes.
Assist with month-end procedures and reporting.
Provide information and support to management and external accountants when required.

Skills & experience
Previous experience in an Accounts Officer, Accounts Administrator or similar finance role.
Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Understanding of basic accounting principles.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organisation and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Experience with XERO or similar accounting software.
Payroll processing experience.
Experience with bank, credit card and other account reconciliations.
Experience managing supplier/creditor accounts.
Experience in a trade, manufacturing, construction or service-based business.
You'll become an important part of the day-to-day operation of an established Australian business, working closely with management and a broader team.
