NSW Public Works (PW) is part of the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development and supports local and state government agencies to deliver critical infrastructure initiatives by providing expert advisory, planning, design, delivery and support services.

We're recruiting for two exciting finance specialist roles and are looking for people who enjoy solving problems, improving processes and using data to support better business decisions.

These opportunities sit within our Commercial team and offer the chance to contribute across a diverse and complex business delivering essential infrastructure and services to communities across NSW. The successful candidates will play an key role in supporting sound financial management, better decision-making and ongoing business improvement.

Finance & Reporting Specialist

This role focuses on financial reporting, data analysis and business intelligence, with a strong emphasis on construction project performance. You will lead the development and continuous improvement of financial reporting, Power BI dashboards and data models,



providing insights that support operational and strategic decision-making across NSW Public Works.

Financial Operations Specialist

This role focuses on finance operations, construction project accounting, process improvement and automation. You will support and improve Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, drive operational efficiencies and help implement digital solutions that enhance service delivery and business performance.

About You

You're a finance professional who enjoys solving problems, improving the way work gets done and helping others make informed decisions. You bring strong finance, accounting or business analysis experience and can build effective working relationships across a diverse range of stakeholders. Experience in an infrastructure and construction delivery business is highly favourable.

You are proactive, adaptable and able to balance competing priorities while maintaining a focus on quality outcomes and continuous improvement.

Depending on your skills and interests, you may be best suited to one of the following areas:

Finance & Reporting

- Experience developing financial reporting, dashboards and business intelligence solutions.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to turn complex financial and construction project data into meaningful business insights.
- Experience with Power BI, financial reporting tools and data modelling.
- A passion for using data to support planning, construction project performance,



continuous improvement and strategic decision-making.

Financial Operations

- Experience in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, construction project accounting or broader finance operations.
- A focus on continuous improvement and process optimisation.
- Experience implementing automation, digital solutions or workflow improvements.
- The ability to balance operational service delivery with longer-term improvement initiatives.

Location

These roles can be based at any NSW Public Works office across NSW. We particularly encourage applications from regional NSW locations, as preference may be given to regional candidates to support the distribution of our workforce.

Successful applicants will be required to work from a NSW Public Works office and regularly attend their nominated workplace in line with departmental workplace arrangements.
