The company

Our client is an established player in the Australian energy and infrastructure sector, with a growing portfolio of project entities across the renewables and infrastructure space. As the business scales, they're looking for a Financial Accountant to join a small, collaborative finance team.

Reporting to the Finance & Treasury Manager, you'll take ownership of day-to-day financial accounting, reporting, tax compliance and treasury support across the group and its project entities. This is a hands-on role with genuine scope to contribute to systems, process and controls as the business grows.

The role

- Maintain accurate books and records in line with AASB
- Own core accounting activities - journals, AP/AR, general ledger
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Prepare and lodge BAS, payroll tax and other statutory filings
- Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end close
- Assist with management accounts and variance analysis
- Maintain fixed asset registers and support project expenditure accounting
- Support intercompany accounting and reconciliations
- Assist with ERP implementation, migration and process improvement
- Prepare audit schedules and liaise with external auditors
- Support annual budgeting, forecasting and business planning




- Assist with finance due diligence for acquisitions and new projects

About you

- CA, CPA or equivalent (or working towards)
- Approximately 3-5 years' relevant accounting experience
- Strong grounding in Australian accounting principles and financial reporting
- Experience with AP, AR and general ledger accounting
- Exposure to statutory reporting, external audit and tax compliance
- Strong Excel skills and comfort working with large data sets and financial systems
- High attention to detail and solid organisational skills
- Ability to work independently within a small, collaborative team

Advantageous

- Experience in infrastructure, energy or renewable energy businesses
- Experience with project entities, trusts, holding companies or investment structures
- Experience with NetSuite, Xero or similar ERP/accounting systems
- Understanding of GST, corporate income tax and deferred tax
- Big 4 or professional services accounting/audit background
