Position purpose The Financial Controller is responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations of Industrial Demolition Services and its related businesses. The role ensures financial records are accurate and up to date, reporting is completed on time, cash flow is closely monitored and directors receive clear information about the financial position of each business.

The Financial Controller also leads the finance team and works closely with Steve Kaklamanis, directors, project managers and other business leaders across the group.

Key responsibilities

Financial management and reporting

· Manage the day-to-day finance function across the group.

· Prepare accurate monthly financial reports for each business.

· Complete balance sheet reconciliations and ensure financial records are accurate.

· Manage the month-end process and ensure accounts are completed within agreed timeframes.

· Provide directors with explicit information about business performance.

· Identify financial issues and risks early and raise them with the appropriate stakeholders.

Cash flow and budgeting

· Prepare and maintain cash-flow forecasts.

· Monitor the cash position of each business and identify upcoming funding requirements.

· Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.

· Monitor performance against budgets and explain significant variances.

· Support directors with financial information for major expenditure and business decisions.

Compliance

· Oversee BAS, payroll tax, superannuation, Incolink, CoInvest and workers compensation obligations.

· Coordinate annual tax returns and external audits with the company's accountants and advisers.

· Ensure financial and statutory obligations are completed accurately and on time.

· Maintain appropriate records relating to insurance, leases, contracts and service agreements.





· Identify and manage financial, taxation and compliance risks.

Finance team management

· Manage the day-to-day activities and priorities of the finance team.

· Clearly allocate responsibilities across bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable and accounting.

· Review the quality and accuracy of work completed by the finance team.

· Ensure important financial priorities and reporting deadlines remain on track.

Systems and process improvement

· Review and improve finance processes, procedures and controls.

· Ensure JobPac and other financial systems are used accurately and consistently.

· Document key finance processes and responsibilities.

· Identify opportunities to simplify or automate finance tasks.

· Improve the accuracy and timeliness of financial information provided to the business.

Skills and experience

Essential

· Relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline.

· CA or CPA qualification.

· Significant experience in accounting or financial management.

· Experience preparing financial accounts, management reports, budgets and cash-flow forecasts.

· Strong understanding of month-end accounting and balance sheet reconciliations.

· Experience managing or supervising a finance team.

· Good understanding of Australian taxation and financial compliance requirements.

· Strong attention to detail and financial discipline.

· Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.

· Confidence communicating with directors and senior stakeholders.

Desirable

· Experience working across multiple businesses, entities or clients.

· Experience in public practice or an accounting advisory environment.

· Experience in demolition, construction, civil works or another project-based industry.

· Experience using JobPac or a similar accounting system.

· Experience improving finance processes and systems.
