Approx. $28–$40/hr depending on skills and experience

We’re looking for an experienced Field Service Technician to join our growing team at Hopwoods Repairs.

n

This is a hands-on mobile role working across South Gippsland, diagnosing, testing, maintaining and repairing electronically controlled domestic and commercial appliances at customer premises.

n

The role suits someone who enjoys fault-finding, solving problems and taking ownership of getting equipment operating correctly again. You’ll need strong electrical and electronic diagnostic skills, a methodical approach to repairs and the ability to work independently while providing professional customer service.

What you’ll be doing n

n
- Diagnosing electrical and electronic faults in domestic and commercial appliances
n
- Testing control boards, sensors, wiring, motors, heating circuits and other electrical and electronic components
n
- Using multimeters and other diagnostic equipment to identify faults and verify repairs
n
- Interpreting wiring diagrams, fault codes, service manuals and manufacturer technical information
n
- Repairing, adjusting or replacing defective control modules, wiring, sensors, switches, motors and associated components
n
- Accessing and using manufacturer diagnostic modes and service programs where applicable
n
- Reassembling appliances and completing operational, functional and safety testing following repairs
n
- Completing accurate technical reports, job records, photographs and parts requirements
n
- Explaining identified faults, completed repairs and correct equipment operation to customers
n
- Carrying out preventative servicing and maintenance where required
n

About you n

We’re looking for someone who is technically capable, practical and comfortable working independently in the field.

n

You will ideally have:

n

n




- Demonstrated experience diagnosing and repairing electronically controlled equipment
n
- Strong electrical and electronic fault-finding skills
n
- Experience using electrical and electronic test instruments
n
- The ability to interpret wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, fault codes and technical service information
n
- Knowledge of electronic control boards, sensors, wiring, motors and control systems
n
- A relevant trade or technical qualification in electronics, electrical or electronic servicing, appliance servicing or a closely related field, or equivalent substantial industry experience
n
- The ability to manage your time effectively in a mobile field-service environment
n
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
n
- A practical approach to problem solving and a willingness to take ownership of customer outcomes
n
- Experience servicing washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, electric ovens, cooktops, rangehoods and refrigerators will be highly regarded.
