We are seeking someone of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage to join our Homelessness Support team as theTrainee Family Safety Support Worker. Based in our Dareton office, this traineeship offers an opportunity to contribute to meaningful work that improves lives while being supported by a values-driven organisation that prioritises cultural safety, wellbeing, and professional growth.

About the Role

This is an Identified Position, classified under special measures of section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010. Only Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are eligible to apply.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who is eager to learn, highly coachable, and looking to build a rewarding career in community services.

- Undertake study towards a qualification (to be negotiated with the successful candidate).
- Provide culturally sensitive support to Aboriginal individuals and families experiencing both family violence and homelessness.
- Assist senior staff in conducting assessments to identify risks related to both family violence and homelessness, prioritising client safety and well-being.
- Assist senior staff to help clients access emergency, transitional, and permanent housing solutions, advocating for culturally appropriate services.




- Assist senior staff in developing and implementing case management plans tailored to the needs of Aboriginal clients facing family violence and housing insecurity.
- Act as a cultural liaison between Aboriginal clients and external agencies, ensuring that services provided are respectful of Aboriginal traditions and values.

This role can involve emotionally demanding situations and exposure to psychological hazards, including client distress, trauma disclosures, and urgent responses. MASP prioritises staff wellbeing by providing supervision, debriefing, reflective practice, safety measures, and access to wellbeing resources. We encourage open communication-raise any concerns with your supervisor, management, or the OHS Committee as soon as possible.

Remuneration

Expected commencing salary of $82,415.00 per annum($41.7080 per hour) plus statutory superannuation.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage.
- Commitment to attaining the mandatory qualification.




- Willingness to develop effective client-centred case management practices in line with the Good Practice Guidelines and MASP's Therapeutic Model of Care.
- Willingness to develop and grow skills to effectively and respectfully work with clients with complex needs and from diverse backgrounds.
- Basic computer literacy skills.
- Sound written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Commitment to MASP's values and client-centred approach
