About Barkly Street Dental

We are a family-based general dental practice that has been in Ararat for the last 11 years, comprising of two dentists and one OHT.

We are privileged to have many great amenities within walking distance, including supermarkets, several schools, a train station and a cafe.

We offer a variety of dental services including but not limited to check-ups and cleanings, fillings, crowns, bridges and veneers, root canal treatments, Invisalign, whitening, extractions, gum treatments and children's dentistry.

We are seeking a unique Dental Assistant who holds the same values and is willing to go above and beyond to help clients continue to have a 'wow' experience.

Who are we after?

At Barkly Street Dental, we pride ourselves on working well as a team, being supportive of each other and providing excellent customer service to our patients. We are looking to replace a current staff member who is relocating, and we are sad to see her go.

Days and Hours we operate (part-time hours to be discussed during interview):

Monday- 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Tuesdays- 8:00 am to 7:00 pm

Wednesdays- 8:00 am to 4:00 pm

Thursday- 8:00 am to 4:00 pm

Friday- 8:00 am to 2:00 pm

Occasional assistance on Saturday if needed. This would be advised beforehand.

The position

- Part-time (preferred) / or casual hours considered.
- Flexibility is offered and welcomed.
- Above award wages with 6-monthly growth reviews and yearly financial reviews.

On top of that, a performance bonus.

- Immediate start.

Some roles you will perform
- First point of contact for the clinic.
- Dental assisting
- Phone communications.

- Patient records maintenance.
- Scheduling and rescheduling client appointments using our dental software
- Discussion of various treatment procedures with clients.
- Preparation of morning huddles / daily schedules for the dental team to help ensure smooth daily operations.

- Payment’s processing /collecting.
- Payment plan processing.
- Lab work management.
- End-of-day settlements.
- Performing general office duties, such as answering telephones, photocopying, filing, and faxing.

- Maintaining effective infection control.
- Upkeep and maintenance of a clean and healthy practice.

We value a staff member who goes the extra mile to care for our patients and has a good work ethic.

The ideal candidate should have:

- Certificate 3 in Dental Assisting (preferred but not essential).
- Previous experience in dental assisting and reception work (preferred but not essential).
- Must have Australian Citizenship or Australian permanent residency.
- Must have excellent communication skills. Fluent English- verbal and written.
- Positive attitude, friendly, motivated, caring, empathic, punctual, trustworthy and well presented.

On-the-job training will be provided where needed. If you are a proactive person with a strong customer service focus, take pride and ownership in your contribution, have excellent attention to detail and want to be part of a growing practice, this could be your next long-term role. The ideal candidate will be well remunerated for this.
