ROLE
We are searching for a Grain Specialist to oversee grain receival, storage, handling and quality testing across Blue Lake Milling's Bordertown and site. This is a hands-on operational role, one of the primary pillars is ensuring grain integrity is maintained from the moment it arrives on site right through to processing. We're looking for someone mechanically minded, safety-focussed, and comfortable working closely with growers, transport providers and the internal production team.
Specifically, you will focus on:
- Supervising grain receival operations including weighbridge management, sampling, grading and classification
- Operating site grain handling equipment including tractor and auger combo, tubulators, and JCB loader
- Operating forklift to move product around site,
including loading stockfeed customers and feeding the Biogas plant
- Assisting with fumigation and cleaning of silos at Bordertown and Padthaway
- Sampling and testing incoming grain to verify quality specifications
- Monitoring storage conditions, moisture, temperature and pest management, to protect grain quality
- Coordinating grain movements between storage, processing and dispatch
- Maintaining accurate weighbridge and quality documentation
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE We are looking for a person who thrives in a hands-on operational environment, enjoys variety in their day, and is keen to be developed while being held accountable for their role.
Specifically, you will have:
- A positive can-do attitude
- Experience in grain handling, receival or storage, or a strong willingness to learn
- Current driver's licence and forklift licence
- Mechanically minded, confident operating a range of site equipment
- Clear communication skills, comfortable engaging with growers and transport providers
- Robust commitment to workplace health and safety
- High attention to detail
- Willingness to work overtime as required
