CMYKhub VIC Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Graphic Pre-press Operator to join our production team at Keilor Park.

This is a full-time position working 37.5 hours per week over five days.

The successful applicant will prepare customer artwork and design files for commercial printing, ensuring that colours, graphics, layouts, impositions and technical specifications meet production requirements. They will also combine strong commercial print-production knowledge with variable-data programming, Adobe InDesign automation and technical problem-solving across artwork, data and online print workflows.

The role requires strong technical knowledge of graphic pre-press processes, colour management, digital proofing and the preparation of accurate, high-resolution, print-ready files.

Key Responsibilities

- Preparing high-resolution, print-ready files for digital and offset printing
- Using pre-press, graphic design software and automation techniques (including Adobe InDesign Data Merge and GREP styles) to create and modify images, text, layouts,



impositions and other visual media displays
- Checking document dimensions, bleed, trim, resolution, fonts, transparency and image quality
- Undertaking colour correction, colour management and file calibration
- Preparing files using digital workflows, including scanning, layering, combining and positioning graphic elements
- Correcting customer files and proofs to meet required production specifications
- Analysing printed samples and making adjustments to achieve the required clarity, accuracy, quality and consistency
- Preparing imposed files for printing, finishing, cutting, folding and binding processes
- Operating graphic cameras, digital tools, digital output and pre-press equipment where required
- Liaising with production staff regarding printing specifications, scheduling and technical requirements
- Reviewing, diagnosing and resolving print-related issues, including troubleshooting faults across artwork, structured data, online templates, web-to-print systems and production workflows, and issues affecting live customer orders
- Maintaining accurate electronic job records and file-management systems
- Ensuring work is completed accurately and within required production deadlines
- Following CMYKhub’s quality, safety and production procedures
- Operating plate making equipment to reproduce images from film to printing plates, digital output devices and presses
- Carrying out digital proofing processes to ensure clarity and accuracy in printed proofs and correcting them for quality.

Skills and Experience The successful applicant will possess:

- Relevant qualifications in graphic pre-press, graphic arts, printing, design or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant industry experience




- Demonstrated experience working as a Graphic Pre-press Operator, Finished Artist, Print Services Operator, Desktop Publishing Operator or in a comparable pre-press role
- Strong experience preparing commercial print files for digital and offset production
- Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud applications, particularly Adobe Acrobat, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
- Experience with PDF preflight, trapping, imposition, colour management, digital proofing and commercial print stocks and finishing processes, including laminating, trimming, creasing, folding, perforating, drilling, die cutting, saddle stitching and perfect binding
- Sound knowledge of CMYK colour processes, spot colours, colour profiles and print-production requirements
- Ability to identify and correct artwork, layout, font, image-resolution and production issues
- Demonstrated experience with variable-data printing or composition software
- Effective communication and organisational skills, including the ability to consult with customers or trade resellers, translate technical print requirements into practical solutions and provide user training or technical support
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines in a fast-paced production environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a production team
- Good problem-solving and time-management skills
- JavaScript or other scripting experience within Adobe, pre-press or variable-data environments, and HTML and CSS for customer-facing portal presentation and branding, will be highly regarded
- Experience working within a high-volume commercial printing environment will be highly regarded.
