Accounts & Payroll Officer - Civil Construction

Our client's a well-established subcontractor servicing some of Australia's largest Tier 1 construction companies. They provide exceptional levels of service and expertise to their clients and as a result, they are experiencing strong and steady growth. Their fleet of cranes, concrete pump trucks, telehandlers and support vehicles plays a critical role on major infrastructure and commercial projects throughout Melbourne and Victoria.

Due to continued growth, they're looking for an experienced Accounts & Payroll Officer to join the team. To take ownership of the day-to-day accounts function and provide accurate financial reporting to the Director. This is a hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys having responsibility for their work, understands the importance of accurate numbers and can keep the financial administration of a busy construction business running smoothly.

Due to continued growth, they're looking for an experienced Accounts & Payroll Officer to join the team. To take ownership of the day-to-day accounts function and provide accurate financial reporting to the Director. This is a hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys having responsibility for their work,



understands the importance of accurate numbers and can keep the financial administration of a busy construction business running smoothly.

Position Overview

Working closely with the Director, you will manage the day-to-day accounts and bookkeeping requirements of the business while also preparing regular reports that provide visibility across key areas of operation. Your responsibilities will include:

- Managing accounts payable.
- Processing the weekly payroll using a payroll system integrated with Xero.
- Completing bank and account reconciliations.
- General bookkeeping and maintenance of accurate financial records.
- Exporting financial and operational data into Excel.
- Preparing monthly Profit & Loss reports.
- Preparing monthly management reports across various areas of the business.
- Tracking and reporting on operational costs and data, such as fuel usage.
- Assisting the Director with financial information and reporting as required.
- General accounts and office administration associated with the role.

Candidate Requirements

We're looking for someone with solid experience across accounts, payroll and bookkeeping who's comfortable taking ownership of these functions. Ideally, you will bring:

- Previous experience in an Accounts Officer, Bookkeeper or Payroll/Accounts position.
- Strong working knowledge of Xero and associated 'bolt-on' software programs.




- Experience processing weekly payroll.
- Strong knowledge of accounts payable, receivables and reconciliations.
- Confidence working with Excel, including exporting and manipulating data.
- Experience preparing monthly financial and management reports.
- A positive understanding of Profit & Loss reporting.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- The type of personality that will fit-in and work-well with a motivated team of individuals who all take pride and ownership in their respective roles.

Experience within civil construction, earthmoving, transport, equipment or a similar operational business would be highly regarded.
