Our client is a highly respected, family-owned construction business with annual revenues of approximately $30 million and a robust reputation for delivering quality outcomes across the Australian market. As the business enters an exciting new phase of growth, including the expansion of a newly established international operation, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced and commercially astute Head of Finance to join the leadership team at their Western Sydney Head Office.

At this stage, the business owners are comfortable looking at candidates at a variety of seniority levels. The key objective is to find a Finance Leader who can advise them on all financial & commercial matters at business grows.

Reporting directly to the Business owners and working closely with key stakeholders across the business, you will play a critical role in providing financial leadership, supporting strategic decision-making, and ensuring the business is well-positioned for continued growth both domestically and internationally. This is a genuine leadership opportunity for someone who enjoys operating as a trusted adviser to business owners while remaining close to the day-to-day financial and commercial drivers of the business.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead all aspects of the finance function, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial controls.
- Partner with the Managing Director and senior leadership team to support strategic planning and business growth initiatives.
- Develop meaningful financial and operational reporting to drive informed decision-making.
- Manage banking relationships and oversee treasury activities.
- Lead foreign exchange risk management and hedging strategies associated with the company's international operations.
- Provide commercial analysis on project profitability, margins, pricing, working capital, and business performance.




- Drive continuous improvement of finance processes, systems, and reporting capabilities.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory, taxation, audit, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team while fostering a high-performance, accountable culture.
- Support potential business expansion initiatives, investment opportunities, and strategic projects.

About You

You are a commercially focused finance leader who combines strong technical expertise with a pragmatic, hands-on approach. You enjoy working within an entrepreneurial environment, thrive on building relationships, and are comfortable influencing senior stakeholders.

Skills & Experience

- CA or CPA qualified.
- Proven experience as a Head of Finance, Financial Controller, Finance Director, or similar senior finance leadership role.
- Experience within construction, infrastructure, engineering, manufacturing, project-based, or related industries.
- Strong treasury and foreign exchange management experience, including implementing and managing FX hedging strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to support international business operations and cross-border transactions.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence strategic business decisions.
- Advanced budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling capability.
- Experience leading and improving finance systems, processes, and reporting frameworks.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
