An established financial services organisation is seeking a Head of Information Technology to lead the next phase of its technology maturity.

Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, you will take responsibility for the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the organisation’s technology environment. There is already a strong technology foundation and capable teams in place. The opportunity is to bring greater alignment across the function, strengthen the control environment and ensure critical systems remain available, resilient and fit for purpose as the organisation continues to scale.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead Cloud and Infrastructure, Service Management and Operations, Service Delivery, Business Systems Support and Technology GRC
- Own the availability, performance, resilience and supportability of critical banking and enterprise systems
- Translate technology strategy and risk appetite into clear operational priorities, controls and measurable service outcomes
- Strengthen Line 1 technology risk and control practices, including evidence management, audit readiness and remediation
- Ensure risks, control gaps and audit findings are clearly owned, prioritised and closed within agreed timeframes
- Lead major incident, problem, change, availability, capacity and service-level management
- Maintain effective disaster recovery, continuity and service recovery arrangements aligned with CPS 230 and CPS 234
- Hold managed service providers and strategic technology partners accountable for service, resilience, risk and commercial outcomes
- Ensure new technology services are supportable and operationally ready before transitioning into BAU
- Balance service reliability, control remediation and transformation demand against workforce and funding capacity
- Manage operational budgets, commercial decisions, vendor performance and technology investment priorities




- Build capability across the leadership team and create a connected, accountable and high-performing function
- Provide clear reporting and advice to the CTO, executives and governance forums on service performance, risk, capacity and investment

About you You will be an experienced technology leader with a strong technical foundation and demonstrated success leading broad technology functions, ideally within banking, financial services or another highly regulated environment.

You will bring

- Senior leadership experience across infrastructure and cloud, service delivery, ITSM and application support
- Accountability for critical technology services, system availability and operational resilience
- Experience owning Line 1 technology controls and addressing audit, regulatory or risk findings
- Working knowledge of APRA requirements, particularly CPS 230 and CPS 234
- Strong incident, problem, change, continuity and disaster recovery capability
- Experience governing outsourced infrastructure, applications and other business-critical technology services
- The commercial judgement to manage significant vendors, budgets, contracts and investment decisions
- The ability to lead multiple teams while establishing clear ownership, priorities and performance expectations
- Strong executive communication skills and the confidence to provide transparent options, consequences and recommendations
- A pragmatic leadership style that balances immediate service needs with sustainable improvement
