Head of Legal- 12-month contract- Sydney
Beacon Legal is assisting a leading alternative asset manager with the appointment of a Head of Legal to cover a 12-month period of parental leave. This is a senior, hands-on transactional position supporting an established and growing private credit business. The successful lawyer will focus on high-quality banking and finance work, including real estate-backed lending, structured finance and larger institutional transactions.
Responsibilities
- Advise on the structuring, negotiation and documentation of private credit transactions
- Draft and negotiate loan, security and related finance documentation
- Support transactions ranging from smaller commercial loans through to complex institutional facilities
- Work closely with investment, origination and asset management teams
- Work with and manage external legal advisers
About you
- Australian-qualified lawyer with approximately 8-10+ years’ PQE
- Strong banking and finance experience gained within a leading law firm
- Demonstrated exposure to private credit, structured finance or non-bank lending
- Experience with commercial real estate finance and associated securities will be highly regarded
- Ideally some previous in-house experience
- Commercial, confident and comfortable working directly with senior stakeholders
The Details:
- 12-month contract covering parental leave- fixed term or secondees considered
- Sydney-based
- Full time, with a strong preference for five days in the office
- Some flexibility, including one day working from home, may be available for the right candidate
- Occasional travel to Melbourne
- Package circa $300k incl super, depending on experience
