Program Manager - WHS

Your new company An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced WHS Manager to join a large and complex organisation committed to creating a safe, healthy and high-performing workplace. This role will lead strategic and operational work health and safety initiatives, providing expert advice to senior leaders while driving continuous improvement across the organisation.

Your new role

Reporting into a senior leadership team, you will be responsible for:

- Providing strategic leadership and expert advice on WHS legislation, compliance and best practice.
- Leading the development, implementation and ongoing review of WHS policies, procedures and management systems.
- Applying project management governance across a portfolio of projects within the Health and Safety Branch, ensuring clear project scope, deliverables and outcomes.
- Developing and maintaining project schedules, timelines and reporting frameworks, including tracking progress through tools such as Gantt charts.
- Preparing high-level project status reports, executive briefings, committee papers and governance documentation for senior stakeholders.
- Monitoring project performance, identifying resourcing pressure points and recommending strategies to support successful delivery.
- Driving a positive safety culture through stakeholder engagement, education and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Managing WHS reporting frameworks, performance metrics and data analysis to support decision-making.
- Providing governance support to WHS committees and contributing to organisational risk management activities.
- Managing complex WHS matters, investigations and organisational responses as required.




- Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders, external agencies and regulatory bodies.
- Overseeing WHS-related contracts and service providers to ensure effective service delivery.
- Leading change initiatives and contributing to the achievement of organisational objectives

What you'll need to succeed To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

- Significant experience delivering high-quality WHS management services within a complex organisation.
- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, compliance obligations and contemporary industry practices.
- Qualifications in Work Health and Safety, Project Management, Human Resources or equivalent demonstrated experience.
- Proven experience applying project governance methodologies, managing project schedules and delivering reporting outcomes across multiple workstreams.
- Strong knowledge of project planning tools and reporting frameworks, including the development and monitoring of project plans and Gantt charts.
- Experience preparing executive-level reports, briefings and recommendations.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including managing priorities, driving outcomes and supporting team performance.
- A collaborative approach with a strong focus on continuous improvement and organisational outcomes.
