Heavy Vehicle Mechanic / Fitter

$64 Per Hour Travel Super LSL & Income Protection

Concept Engineering is seeking an experienced and motivated Heavy Vehicle Mechanic or Fitter to join our clients team based in Brighton Tasmania. The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, servicing, maintenance, repair, modification and installation of mechanical components and equipment across a range of trucks, trailers, containers and associated transport equipment.

This is a hands-on position suited to a mechanically minded individual who takes pride in their workmanship, works safely and efficiently, and is capable of working both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out scheduled and preventative maintenance on trucks, trailers and containers.

Diagnose mechanical faults and identify the cause of equipment failures.

Complete mechanical repairs, servicing and component replacements.

Inspect chassis, suspension, braking systems, running gear and associated mechanical components.

Repair and maintain trailer components, including axles, hubs, bearings, suspension and coupling systems.

Carry out repairs and modifications to container equipment and associated mechanical systems.

Remove, dismantle, inspect, repair and refit mechanical components.

Conduct mechanical inspections and report identified faults or maintenance requirements.

Use hand tools, power tools, lifting equipment and workshop machinery safely and correctly.

Assist with fabrication, welding, cutting and modification work where required.





Ensure all work is completed to the required safety, quality and manufacturer standards.

Complete maintenance records, job sheets and relevant documentation accurately.

Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop and work environment.

Communicate effectively with supervisors, workshop staff, drivers and other personnel.

Identify potential safety issues and report them immediately.

Participate in continuous improvement of workshop processes, equipment and maintenance practices.

Perform other reasonable duties associated with the role as required.
