About The Role:

Are you an experienced Heavy Vehicle Pilot looking for a role that offers variety, travel, and the opportunity to work on exciting modular construction projects across Western Australia and beyond?

WABi Systems Australia is seeking a reliable and safety-focused Heavy Vehicle Pilot to support the transportation of our modular building components and oversized loads to project locations. You will be responsible for safely escorting our heavy vehicles, operating a pilot vehicle, maintaining clear communication with drivers, and ensuring movements are carried out in accordance with Main Roads WA requirements and applicable permit conditions.

This role is ideal for someone who is confident on the road, understands the responsibilities involved in oversize load movements, and is comfortable travelling to metropolitan, regional and remote project locations.

About You:

- Current WA Heavy Vehicle Pilot Licence (essential)
- Current unrestricted Australian Driver’s Licence (essential)
- Previous experience piloting or escorting oversize/overmass heavy vehicle movements (highly desirable)
- Sound knowledge of Main Roads WA heavy vehicle pilot requirements and OSOM permit conditions
- Confident using UHF radio and maintaining clear communication with heavy vehicle drivers and other pilots/escorts
- Strong understanding of road safety and safe heavy vehicle movements
- Reliable, safety-conscious and able to work independently




- Good situational awareness and ability to respond appropriately to changing road and traffic conditions
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, nights and weekends where required
- Willingness to travel extensively to metropolitan, regional and remote project locations
- White Card (desired)
- First Aid Certificate (desired)

Key Responsibilities:

- Pilot and escort WABi heavy vehicles transporting oversized modular building components and other loads
- Operate the designated pilot vehicle safely and professionally
- Travel ahead of or behind heavy vehicles as required by the applicable movement and permit conditions
- Maintain effective UHF radio communication with heavy vehicle drivers and other pilots or escorts
- Assist drivers with the safe movement of oversized loads through road networks, intersections and other restricted areas
- Identify and communicate potential road hazards, obstructions, traffic conditions and clearance issues
- Ensure pilot activities are undertaken in accordance with Main Roads WA requirements, permit conditions and applicable legislation
- Follow approved transport routes and any specific conditions applicable to each movement
- Conduct pre-departure checks of the pilot vehicle, signage, warning lights and communication equipment
- Assist with journey and route planning where required
- Maintain required records and documentation associated with pilot movements
- Liaise with WABi project, logistics and construction personnel regarding transport schedules and site access
- Maintain strict adherence to workplace health and safety procedures and Company policies
- Represent WABi professionally when travelling on public roads and attending client or project locations
- Travel to various project locations as required
