Fulltime Abrasive Blaster and Painter required to join our existing site based teams.

IPCQ restores and protects critical Australian infrastructure from corrosion and substrate deterioration by undertaking specialist surface preparation and application of protective coatings. We are Queensland-owned site-based specialist with a nationwide reach and predominantly service the resources (petroleum, oil & gas), mining, power, water, transport and infrastructure industries. We also have a purpose-built yard facility closely located to Brisbane Airport.

May require travel to locations throughout Australia including, Mackay, Perth, Carins, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Townsville, NSW, Sydney and Tasmania.

Some of our recent projects include works on:

- Bulk fuel storage tanks and terminals supporting the Australian Government’s fuel security package which will protect the economy and workers in fuel-dependent industries, such as transport, agriculture, mining, trades and other critical services;
- High voltage transmission towers in world heritage listed national park that are responsible for the electricity supply to Queensland’s residences and businesses;
- Lifesaving Australian maritime safety assets such as heritage listed lighthouses across the sprawling Australian coastline and an emergency towage vessel patrolling the northern Excellent Barrier Reef and Torres Strait;
- State water supply and delivery assets such as tanks and pipelines required to meet demand for clean drinking water and drought response plans;
- Vital tourism and sporting infrastructure supporting our local economy such as the Brisbane Airport,



the Gabba Stadium and iconic gold coast theme parks including Sea World and Movie World; and
- Wind generation turbines which help to create a sustainable energy future for Australia.

These projects are often time critical, in high-risk environments, environmentally sensitive, within the public forefront and located in some of our vast country’s most remote locations. We have mobilised via road, rail, boat, plane, helicopter and more. We work in confined spaces, at heights, off scaffold, from elevated work platforms and by via rope access and climbing.

We are seeking motivated, hard-working individuals to join our existing full time team.

Role responsibilities include:

- Attend and participate in daily Pre-Start & Toolbox Meetings and other safety talks;
- Participate in and abide by site & company safety requirements including JHAs (Job Hazard Analysis), SWPs (Safe Working Procedures);
- Participate in and gain competency in site & project inductions and training;
- Set up & clean-up of site;
- Pre-Start check all equipment prior to use;
- Operation of compressors & generators;
- Masking;
- Hand and mechanical cleaning including use of orbital sanders, sanding discs, wire buffs & MBX;




- Installation of encapsulation/shrouding materials & floor coverings such as drop sheets;
- Feed abrasive hoppers/pots and operate;
- Operate and maintain abrasive blasting equipment such as blast hoppers/pots, deadman controls and blast nozzles;
- Operate & maintain high pressure water blasters;
- Mix paint in accordance with manufacturers’ requirements;
- Operation & maintenance of painting equipment;
- Use and application of single & two pack coatings in accordance with specification & Quality Assurance requirements;
- Use of testing equipment including WFT (Wet Film Thickness) & weather gauges as well as accurate recording of the data obtained;

To be successful, you will have:

- Current QLD Driver’s Licence;
- Construction Industry Induction (Blue / White Card);
- Punctual & reliable.

Other desirable skills & competencies:

- Three (3) years or more experience as an Industrial Painter & Abrasive Blaster;
- Working at Heights training;
- Licenced & competent in the use of an Elevated Work Platform;
- Confined Space Entry training;
- Understanding of blast medium types;
- Understanding of blast classes & profile recording; and
- Understanding of Hazardous Substance & Dangerous Goods requirements including detailed knowledge of Technical Product Data Sheets & Safety Data Sheets.
