As a Senior Claims Officer with the Queensland Government Insurance Fund, you will manage matters from initial assessment to settlement, apply sound judgement to liability and quantum, negotiate fair outcomes and work with legal and investigative specialists. Your new opportunity

Bring your claims expertise to the Queensland Government Insurance Fund (QGIF), Queensland's self-insurance scheme for government risks. As a Senior Claims Officer, you will manage a portfolio of claims such as current and historical personal injury, medical negligence, general liability, property and business interruption claims lodged against Queensland Government agencies.

Working from initial assessment through to settlement, you will apply sound judgement to liability, quantum and resolution strategies, engage legal and investigative specialists, and represent QGIF in negotiations, conferences and court-related processes. This is an prospect to deliver fair, well-reasoned outcomes while helping State Government agencies manage risk and protect public resources.

In this role, you will:

Manage insurance claims in line with legislative, Court and Queensland Government requirements and timeframes.

Investigate and analyse matters to determine liability, damages and appropriate resolution strategies.





Establish accurate claims estimates and maintain reliable information in business systems.

Work with external investigators, solicitors and barristers to support claim investigations, litigation and resolution strategies.

Negotiate settlements and approve claim, legal and other expenses within delegated authority.

Represent QGIF at settlements, hearings, conferences and negotiations, and prepare reports, summaries and submissions.

What experience you will bring:

Experience managing personal injury or liability claims, including applying relevant legislation and common law principles. Experience under the Personal Injuries Proceedings Act 2002 will be highly regarded.

A sound understanding of liability and causation principles, with the ability to apply them to specific matters.

The ability to assess the quantum of personal injury claims.

Claims management capability, including negotiation, resolution strategy development and identifying opportunities to settle claims.

Experience building and managing effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Whilst there are no mandatory qualifications needed for this role, relevant qualifications in insurance, law or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
