Description
Reporting to a Senior People Partner, the HR Advisor provides trusted advice and operational support across people policies, procedures, compliance, information management, and employee lifecycle activities.
Working collaboratively with the Senior People Partners and P&C; specialists, this role acts as the initial point of contact for managers and employees seeking guidance on P&C; policies, processes, and general employment matters.
Key responsibilities in this role include:
Employee relations
- Be the first point of contact for P&C; enquiries and provide guidance or referral as appropriate.
- Ensure fair and consistent application of policies and procedures by providing timely and accurate advice to managers and employees, including in relation to employment conditions more broadly.
- Provide advice and support to managers and employees on people processes, including in relation to the annual performance and development review cycle.
- Support the Senior People Partners by preparing employment documentation, coordinating people processes.
- Build effective relationships with leaders, employees, and corporate service teams.
- In partnership with the Senior People Partner and other P&C; team members support the delivery of People and Culture projects, initiatives, change management, and organisational programs in the business units.
- Support engagement initiatives and wellbeing programs and assist with the delivery of education sessions on P&C; policies and processes.
Policy development, compliance and risk management
- Assist with the interpretation and application of people policies, employment contracts, award and NES provisions, as well as employment related legislation.
- Support the development, review, and maintenance of P&C; policies,
procedures, templates, and guidance material.
- Support risk management and compliance activity by monitoring changes in employment legislation, disseminating information across the team and updating P&C; documentation.
- Prepare policy communications, guidance notes, FAQs, and educational resources for leaders and employees.
Operations, Systems, Governance and Reporting
- Support the delivery of employee lifecycle, recruitment, HR systems, compliance and reporting activities in partnership with other members of the People and Culture team.
- Maintain accurate employee records, HR documentation, workforce data, system workflows and knowledge management resources to ensure information integrity and compliance.
- Provide operational support and back-up coverage for HR coordination, talent acquisition coordination, and HR systems administration activities as required.
- Support end of month and ad hoc reporting requirements by producing workforce reports and collating information.
- As required support recruitment activity, including representing P&C; on interview panels.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance employee experience, service delivery, system effectiveness and data quality across the People and Culture function.
Skills and Experiences
What You'll Bring
- 3-5 years’ experience in an HR Advisor, HR Coordinator, People Operations, or similar People & Culture role.
- Solutions focused mindset with an approachable and team-oriented workstyle.
- Sound knowledge of employment legislation, P&C; policies, and employee lifecycle processes.
- Ability to build trusted relationships and provide practical, solutions-focused people advice.
- Good judgement and problem solving capability, balancing employee needs, business requirements, and risk.
- High level of professionalism, discretion and attention to detail when managing employee information and records.
- Strong written communication skills and ability to prepare policies, procedures, guidance material, and correspondence.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data integrity and information governance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and P&C; information systems.
- Qualification in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline.
