As a Case Manager, you will join a dynamic, high performing team working in a changing and challenging environment. You will actively work within a small fast paced team to facilitate a timely response to employees and management on performance and conduct matters.

You will exercise sound judgement, drawing upon your experience to make recommendations on complex performance and conduct cases, including the drafting of correspondence, to assist the delegate in their decision making.

Other associated functions of the role include, but not limited to, undertaking project management functions and delivering training to internal stakeholders.

In collaboration with your team members and colleagues, you will monitor and report on matters relating to performance management, underperformance, investigation of alleged breaches of the Code of Conduct, bullying and harassment, workplace conflict/dispute resolution, reviews of action, and Public Interest Disclosures.

While working under broad direction from the Assistant Director, Performance and Conduct, you will be responsible for leading and managing more complex cases, taking carriage and ownership of matters in accordance with relevant performance and conduct frameworks. You will be required to use your specialist working knowledge of the Public Service Act 1999 and other relevant legislation and framework to achieve successful capability and behavioural outcomes.

In this role, your responsibilities will include the following:

- Providing timely, expert advice on sensitive HR matters to managers and staff across the department.
- Managing a caseload of complex cases involving conduct, performance management, complaints,



reviews of action and workplace conflict.
- Demonstrating sound knowledge of the APS employment framework, relevant legislation, policies and procedures including the APS Code of Conduct, and ability to confidently interpret and apply to your work.
- Demonstrating excellent verbal and written communication skills, including articulating complex information clearly and concisely and preparing high level briefs and reports that demonstrate strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Building and maintaining solid working relations with stakeholders at all levels.
- Working both independently and as part of a team, and applying sound judgment to make decisions with limited direction.
- Achieving outcomes within strict timeframes, demonstrating strong prioritisation skills.
- Assisting with the review and improvement of HR policies, processes and guidance materials and contributing to HR projects.

Employment at the Department of Education is subject to conditions prescribed within the Public Service Act 1999 including:

- Citizenship: Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the APS unless the Agency delegate has agreed, in writing.
- Security Clearance: This is a designated security assessed position.



The successful candidate will have the ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.
