About the Role
YMAC is currently seeking a full time (37.5 hours per week) IT Engineer to join the team in our Perth office on a permanent contract.
The IT Engineer is responsible for the administration, maintenance, implementation and reliable operation of YMAC’s ICT environment, while providing direct technical support to YMAC staff and stakeholders.
The role provides hands-on technical ownership across hardware, software, systems, networks, Microsoft 365 and telecommunications. This includes independently investigating and resolving complex technical issues, managing incidents and changes, and identifying and addressing technical risks.
Working closely with the BITS Manager, IT team and external providers, the IT Engineer will implement secure, supportable and fit-for-purpose technology solutions, maintain accurate technical documentation and asset information, and provide clear technical advice and accountability for assigned systems and services.
The role also contributes to YMAC’s capacity building initiatives by strengthening ICT capability and supporting the delivery and ongoing operation of technology services to participating PBCs and other stakeholders.
About You
You will have demonstrated experience in an IT engineering or similar technical support role, with strong knowledge across Microsoft 365, hardware, software, networks, systems and telecommunications. You will be confident troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues, managing competing priorities and taking ownership of technical matters through to resolution.
You will have a practical, solutions-focused approach and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the BITS Manager, IT team, external providers and stakeholders. Strong communication skills are essential,
as is the ability to provide clear technical advice and support to users with varying levels of technical knowledge.
You will also have a strong focus on security, documentation, asset management and maintaining reliable ICT services, together with an interest in supporting the development of ICT capability across YMAC and its stakeholders.

Selection Criteria
Experience
- Proven relevant experience working as an IT Engineer, Systems Engineer, or in a similar technical ICT role with responsibility for administration, maintenance, implementation and operational support of enterprise ICT services.
- Demonstrated experience supporting and administering Microsoft Windows environments, including desktop, server, Microsoft 365 and associated enterprise technologies.
- Demonstrated experience installing, configuring, administering, maintaining and troubleshooting ICT infrastructure, hardware, software, networks and telecommunications systems.
- Demonstrated experience providing technical support and advice to users across a range of locations and levels of technical capability.
- Experience working with external ICT providers, vendors and suppliers to resolve technical issues and deliver ICT solutions.
- Demonstrated experience implementing ICT projects, system changes, upgrades, migrations or technology improvement initiatives, including testing, documentation and transition to operational support.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts and solutions clearly to users with varying levels of technical knowledge.
- Well-developed investigative, analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to independently investigate, diagnose and resolve complex technical incidents, undertake root-cause analysis, own issues through to resolution and escalate appropriately when required.
- Demonstrated ability to take technical ownership and accountability for assigned systems, changes and incidents, including communicating risks, decisions and outcomes to stakeholders.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing operational, support and project requirements.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to contribute to Capacity Building activities, including supporting users and participating PBCs to develop their understanding and effective use of ICT systems
- and services.
Knowledge
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems, enterprise applications and their operation within networked environments.
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft 365 technologies, including identity, collaboration, productivity and administration services.
- Working knowledge of networking concepts, infrastructure, hardware, endpoint management and telecommunications technologies.
- Understanding of cyber security principles, including access management, endpoint security, data protection and maintaining the confidentiality and integrity of organisational information.
- Understanding of ICT service management practices, incident and problem management, change management, asset management, configuration control and maintaining appropriate technical documentation.
- Knowledge and practical application of recognised IT best-practice frameworks and delivery methodologies, including ITIL 4 for IT service management and Agile/Scrum principles for the structured delivery and continuous improvement of ICT services and projects.
- Knowledge of operational monitoring, patching, backup and recovery, system lifecycle management and technical controls that support reliable and secure ICT services.
- Contemporary knowledge of emerging technologies and their potential application within an organisational environment.
