Zilkens Lawyers is seeking a junior lawyer to join our team.

About the role

This is an opportunity for a newly admitted lawyer or lawyer with some post-admission experience who is looking to develop their commercial law skills in a supportive and hands-on workplace.

Working closely with the principal lawyer, you will gain exposure to a broad range of matters including dispute resolution, corporate law, property, trusts, construction, insolvency and estate and succession planning.

Depending on your level of experience, your responsibilities may include:

- reviewing, drafting and amending commercial agreements and other legal documents
- conducting legal research and providing advice to clients
- preparing file notes and correspondence to clients
- assisting with a range of commercial transactions and matters
- drafting pleadings, correspondence, submissions and other legal documents
- liaising with clients, counsel and other industry professionals
- managing and progressing your own matters under appropriate supervision
- working collaboratively with senior lawyers and the wider team

We are looking for someone who is:





- newly admitted or has approximately 1–3 years post-admission experience
- interested in developing a career in commercial law
- strong communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- detail-oriented, organised and able to manage competing priorities
- proactive, reliable and willing to take ownership of their work
- comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
- keen to learn and develop their legal skills in a practical environment

Previous experience in commercial law is desirable but not essential. We are particularly interested in applicants who can demonstrate strong legal fundamentals, a willingness to learn and a genuine interest in commercial practice.
