Head of Tower Crane Erection / Lead Install Rigger

Spartan Group of Companies is seeking a highly experienced Lead Tower Crane Rigger to drive our erection and dismantling operations across major projects in Queensland.

This is a key leadership role within our tower crane division, suited to someone with strong technical expertise, high-rise experience, and the ability to lead crews with confidence and precision.

About the Role

As our Lead Tower Crane Rigger, you will play a key role in the erection, dismantling, climbing and maintenance of our tower crane fleet. You will be responsible for leading rigging crews on site and working closely with crane technicians, mobile crane operators, supervisors and project teams to ensure each operation is completed safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

- Leading tower crane erection and dismantling crews

- Carrying out large and complex tower crane erections and dismantles

- Performing and supervising internal climbing operations

- Performing and supervising external climbing operations

- Tower crane climbing, jumping and height-extension operations

- Installation and removal of climbing frames, collars, ties and associated climbing equipment

- Coordinating riggers, dogmen and crane personnel throughout erection, climbing and dismantling works

- Working with large mobile cranes during tower crane erection and dismantling operations

- Ensuring all operations meet both legislative and manufacturer's recommended requirements on a regular basis whilst maintaining high OHS standards





About you

- Advanced Rigging High Risk Work Licence (RA) – highly preferred

- Demonstrated experience with major tower crane erections and dismantles

- Demonstrated experience with internal and external tower crane climbing systems

- Strong experience carrying out tower crane climbing/jumping operations

- Experience with climbing frames, collars, ties and associated tower crane components

- Strong practical knowledge of tower crane components and erection sequences

- Experience coordinating mobile cranes during tower crane erection and dismantling

- Strong understanding of complex rigging and lifting operations

- Ability to read and follow lift plans, engineering documentation and manufacturer erection/climbing procedures

- Demonstrated experience leading tower crane rigging crews

- Experience with Comdedil, Yang Mao and Potain – highly advantageous
