Prima Facie has reached the point where the opportunity in front of the business is greater than the amount of time I personally have available to service it.

Rather than wait until I can make a traditional permanent hire, I’m looking for one or two people who might want to come into the business earlier and help build what comes next.

I’m not interested in bringing ten people on, giving them a login and hoping a few of them bill. If I bring someone into Prima Facie, I want to invest time in them, see them develop and give them somewhere to grow if the relationship works.

THE PROSPECT

This would initially be a fully remote independent contractor arrangement. There is no base salary. The structure is commission only, with a fee split of up to 70% and first-year earning potential in the $200,000–$250,000+ range for someone producing consistently.

It could be one day a week, three days a week or full-time. I’m not interested in monitoring when you start work, where you work from or how many calls you’ve made by lunchtime. I care about the quality of the work and the relationships you build.

You’ll need your own ABN, laptop, mobile and an established LinkedIn presence. Prima Facie will provide the CRM, company email and communications, candidate sourcing capability, marketing, existing client relationships, live opportunities and the wider business infrastructure around your desk.

WHO I’M LOOKING FOR

I’m open to experienced recruiters and also lawyers who have seriously considered doing something different with their careers.





If you’re a lawyer, recruitment experience isn’t necessarily essential. You already understand the profession, how firms operate and the pressures lawyers work under. The recruitment side can be learnt.

What matters more is judgement and how you treat people.

You need to care about candidates and clients. You’re advising people on decisions that can materially affect their careers and businesses, and I want someone who takes that responsibility seriously. That means listening properly, understanding what someone is actually trying to achieve and being prepared to say when something isn’t right.

There’s nothing wrong with being motivated by the earning potential. I just need that ambition to sit alongside genuine care for the work and the people you’re advising.

WHERE COULD IT LEAD

I don’t necessarily see this as being a contractor arrangement forever.

If Prima Facie becomes somewhere you genuinely want to call home, there is room for this to evolve into a permanent role, leadership of a market or state and, for the right people over time, a pathway toward partnership or equity.
