About the role

We are seeking an experienced Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer to support scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance. The role combines practical engineering work with maintenance coordination, technical guidance and mentoring.

You will bring sound technical judgement, a thorough approach to aircraft safety and the ability to work effectively with engineers, flight crews and operations teams. Experience in Pacific aviation operations, ideally Papua New Guinea, is highly regarded.

Your responsibilities

· Carry out scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, including line maintenance, A-checks, C-checks and other heavy maintenance tasks within your qualifications and authorisations.

· Diagnose aircraft defects, complete rectification work, and conduct functional and operational system checks using approved maintenance data.

· Complete maintenance records, inspection documentation and certifications accurately and within the scope of your licence and company authorisations.

· Coordinate work priorities, personnel and aircraft maintenance progress to support production schedules.

· Liaise with maintenance control, flight crews, operations personnel and project leads on aircraft status, defects and maintenance requirements.

· Support aircraft-on-ground recovery, component requirements and parts coordination when required.

· Guide junior engineers and apprentices, sharing practical maintenance knowledge and safe working methods.

· Follow aviation safety, quality and workplace procedures and identify practical improvements to maintenance delivery.

Essential qualifications and experience

· A current Australian CASA Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence with relevant aircraft ratings and demonstrable recent maintenance experience.

· Experience in aircraft fault finding, defect rectification, inspections and scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.

· Ability to interpret maintenance manuals and technical instructions and maintain accurate technical records.

· Sound knowledge of aviation safety and quality requirements,



supported by human factors training.

· Clear communication, reliable teamwork and experience guiding or supervising maintenance personnel.

Qualifications and application detailsAdditional licences and authorisations

New Zealand CAA and Papua New Guinea CASA aircraft maintenance licences or certifications are highly regarded, as is Papua Current Guinea CASA Inspection Authority. Applicants should state the scope and current status of each credential held.

Aircraft and engine training

Relevant type training or ratings in one or more of the following areas are desirable. Applicants do not need to hold every course or rating listed.

· Boeing 737 B1 and/or B2 type training.

· Dash 8 Q400 B1 and/or B2 type training.

· Dash 8 Series 100, 200 and 300 B1 type training.

· Fokker 70 B1 type training.

· Fokker 100 B1 type training.

· PT6A series engine training.

Other education and safety training

· Basic Aeronautical Knowledge and Aircraft Standard Maintenance Practical Skills training, or equivalent foundational aircraft maintenance training.

· Australian CASA licence preparation or coaching courses, or equivalent study.

· Confined space and working at heights training.

· Year 12 certificate or equivalent education.

Experience we value

Experience working in the Pacific region, particularly Papua New Guinea, will be an advantage. We value the ability to work respectfully with local teams, understand regional operating conditions and coordinate maintenance where aircraft availability, logistics and resources need careful planning.

Heavy maintenance supervision, maintenance watch or maintenance control experience, minimum equipment list (MEL) coordination and apprentice mentoring are also highly regarded.

What the role offers

· AUD $84 per hour plus superannuation, with an average of 40 hours per week.

· Practical aircraft maintenance work within a business supporting Australian and Papua New Guinea aviation operations.

· Scope to contribute technical expertise, guide junior personnel and improve maintenance delivery.

Pay: $120,000.00 – $180,001.00 per year
