- Program, configure, and operate CNC fibre laser cutting systems.
- Import and interpret technical drawings and convert job requirements into accurate cutting programs.
- Configure machine parameters including cutting power, speed, gas assist, focus and other system settings.
- Sequence and nest cutting jobs to optimise material utilisation and production efficiency.
- Monitor machine operation and cutting quality throughout production.
- Adjust machine settings where required to maintain specified tolerances, edge quality and product requirements.
- Inspect fibre laser equipment and machine components for wear, misalignment or operating faults.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, optical and machine-control issues affecting equipment performance.
- Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance on fibre laser cutting systems.
- Perform technical adjustments, calibration and alignment of critical machine components.
- Carry out corrective repairs and component replacement where appropriate.
- Test equipment following maintenance, repairs or adjustment to confirm correct operation.
- Monitor machine condition and identify developing issues before they result in downtime or equipment damage.
- Maintain accurate records of servicing, maintenance, faults, repairs and calibration activities.
- Escalate complex equipment issues to management or specialist service providers where required.
- Follow manufacturer requirements, quality procedures and workplace health and safety standards.
Skill & Experience
- Relevant technical, mechanical, machining, engineering, automation or vocational training, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with CNC laser cutting or comparable automated industrial machinery.
- Experience programming and configuring CNC-controlled equipment.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and production specifications.
- Robust mechanical aptitude, fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with machinery maintenance, calibration and technical adjustment.
- Understanding of manufacturing tolerances and production quality requirements.
- Ability to work independently and within a production team.
- Bystronic or similar fibre laser experience is highly regarded.
