Male Support Worker Wanted

We’re looking for a friendly, caring and reliable male support worker aged 18–25 to join our team and provide support to an 11-year-old boy.

We’re looking for someone who is patient, approachable, easy-going and responsible, and who can build a robust and positive connection with him. It’s important that the person we find is someone he can feel comfortable around and look forward to spending time with.

The role will involve supporting him with community access, outings, activities, social opportunities and his everyday routines. This could include going for walks, visiting different places, participating in activities, getting out into the community and supporting him to try new things.

We’re looking for someone who is happy to get involved, rather than someone who simply sits on the sidelines. Being able to have a laugh, talk with him, encourage him and make activities enjoyable will be an important part of the role.

Building trust and familiarity is very important, so we are looking for someone who can provide regular and consistent availability and who is interested in staying in the role long-term. We want to find someone who can become a familiar and trusted person in his support team.

About you

We’re looking for someone who is:

- Male and aged 18–25
- Friendly, caring and patient
- Reliable, responsible and punctual
- Easy-going and approachable
- Confident communicating with children




- Able to build a positive rapport and connection
- Comfortable supporting a young person in the community
- Happy to participate in activities, outings and different experiences
- Encouraging and positive
- Able to follow support plans and provide appropriate supervision
- Comfortable communicating with parents, carers and other members of the support team
- Available for regular, ongoing shifts
- Previous experience in disability support, childcare, youth work or a similar role is preferred
- Driver’s licence and reliable car preferred
- Holds, or is willing to obtain, a Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check
