NETWORK ENGINEER - Service Provider (ASR9K, IPv6, Segment Routing)

n

Join a globally recognised engineering team delivering and evolving large-scale Service Provider IP/MPLS networks across national and international backbone infrastructure.

n

This role is ideal for engineers with hands‑on experience designing, deploying, and supporting carrier‑grade networks using Cisco Service Provider platforms.

n

It's a contract role that will initially run for 12 months which is likely to be extended for years to come. Candidates must have full working rights in Australia.

Hybrid role - 3 days onsite

What you'll do n

n
- Design, deploy and support carrier‑grade IP/MPLS backbone networks using Cisco ASR9000 (IOS-XR) platforms
n
- Deliver backbone upgrades, migrations, and network expansion programs across core, aggregation, and edge layers
n
- Implement and optimise routing technologies including BGP, IS‑IS, MPLS L3VPN, IPv6, and Segment Routing
n
- Troubleshoot complex production network issues and lead incident resolution across multi‑vendor environments
n
- Support deployment of recent services,



capacity upgrades, and infrastructure modernisation initiatives
n
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and vendor teams to ensure scalable, resilient network architecture
n

What you bring nn
- Experience working with Cisco Service Provider platforms, particularly ASR9K and IOS‑XR
n
- Strong hands‑on experience with MPLS, BGP, IS‑IS, IPv6, and Segment Routing in carrier or large‑scale environments
n
- Proven experience supporting or deploying IP/MPLS backbone or core networks
n
- Ability to troubleshoot routing, transport, and backbone infrastructure issues in production environments
n
- Experience working in telecom, Service Provider, or large‑scale managed network environments
n

Nice to have nn
- Experience with Juniper MX, Nokia SR, or multi‑vendor backbone environments
n
- Exposure to EVPN, traffic engineering, or automation tools (Python, Ansible)
n
- CCNP Service Provider, CCIE, or equivalent experience
n
