About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our Meals Maintenance team.

Reporting to the Reliability Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing and improving mechanical plant and equipment across the Meals site. You will play an important role in supporting preventative maintenance, responding to breakdowns and improving equipment reliability to minimise downtime and keep production running safely and efficiently

Key Responsibilities

- Repair, maintain and overhaul mechanical plant and equipment
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical faults across processing, packaging and conveying equipment
- Complete precision fitting, alignment, bearing replacement, gearbox maintenance and equipment rebuilds
- Install, modify and commission mechanical equipment and production assets
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, technical manuals and equipment documentation
- Complete fabrication, welding and machining activities where appropriately trained and authorised
- Support preventative maintenance, breakdown response and continuous improvement activities
- Contribute to root cause analysis and the implementation of corrective actions
- Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and equipment records
- Work closely with Electricians, Production teams and Contractors to complete maintenance activities safely and effectively
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, maintainability and operational efficiency

About You To be successful in this role,



you will have:

- A Trade Certificate in Engineering Mechanical Trade, Mechanical Fitting or an equivalent recognised qualification
- Experience in a mechanical maintenance role within an industrial setting
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
- Experience working with conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings and pneumatic systems
- The ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical manuals
- An understanding of preventative and predictive maintenance principles
- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
- The ability to prioritise work and respond effectively to breakdown situations
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- A strong commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement
