Oscar Mobile Auto Experts is a growing automotive business providing skilled mobile mechanical services across Adelaide. As part of our continued growth, we are opening our new workshop in Cavan and are looking for an experienced General Motor Mechanic to join our team.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, has robust diagnostic capabilities and is committed to delivering high-quality mechanical repairs and excellent customer service.

About the role

This is a hands-on mechanical role involving servicing, diagnostics and repairs across a wide range of vehicles. You will work primarily from our Cavan workshop, with mobile mechanical work also required from time to time.

Key responsibilities

- Carry out general vehicle servicing, maintenance and mechanical repairs

- Diagnose mechanical and basic electrical vehicle faults

- Inspect, diagnose and repair steering, suspension, engine cooling, fuel and exhaust systems

- Diagnose and repair braking systems

- Perform engine tune-ups and adjustments to improve vehicle performance and fuel efficiency

- Carry out timing belt, drive belt, hose and related component replacements

- Diagnose, overhaul, rebuild and repair automatic and manual transmissions

- Use advanced diagnostic scanning equipment, digital multimeters and scopes to read Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical faults

- Perform battery, starter motor and alternator diagnosis and replacement

- Conduct vehicle inspections and identify current and upcoming repair requirements

About You To be considered for this position, you will ideally have:





- Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent recognised qualification

- Minimum 4–5 years of relevant automotive mechanical experience

- Strong mechanical repair, diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- A high standard of workmanship with excellent attention to detail and dedication to quality

- Strong experience using modern automotive diagnostic equipment

- Excellent customer service and communication skills, including the ability to effectively liaise and engage with customers and team members

- Ability to work independently with minimal direction

- Ability to work collaboratively within a friendly team environment that promotes safety, training and wellbeing

- Ability and willingness to learn new skills, share ideas and embrace changes in automotive technology

- Good problem-solving and time-management skills

- Current Australian driver's licence

- Own basic tools
