NATIONAL SALES & MARKETING MANAGER
National Role | Location Flexible
Executive Package: $220,000–$250,000
YOU'VE BUILT A HIGH-PERFORMING SALES TEAM BEFORE.
NOW WE WANT YOU TO DO IT AGAIN. WITH US!
Our client is an established and successful Australian family business operating across specialist technical, commercial and healthcare markets.
The business has a strong national customer base, an established sales and service offering, experienced people and ambitious plans for its next stage.
With a significant growth agenda, they are now seeking an experienced National Sales & Marketing Manager to build the commercial discipline, people capability, market presence and sales engine required to deliver it.
Reporting directly to the CEO and sitting on the Senior Leadership Team, this is an influential leadership position with responsibility for helping shape and execute the organisation's commercial growth strategy.
This isn't a role for someone looking for their first opportunity to lead at this level.
We are looking for someone who has done it before.
PEOPLE. CLARITY. ACCOUNTABILITY. GROWTH.
At the heart of this role is people leadership.
You will lead a geographically dispersed sales team and create absolute clarity around roles, expectations, priorities, activity and outcomes.
Your people need to know what they are responsible for, what outcomes they are expected to deliver, what success looks like and what they have committed to doing next.
Then comes accountability.
You will establish a strong communication and operating rhythm where commitments are followed through, performance is visible, people are coached and problems are addressed early.
The objective is not more meetings.
It is greater clarity, stronger ownership and better execution.
BRING DISCIPLINE AND RIGOUR TO THE SALES ENGINE
This is a business with complex project sales, where opportunities can develop over 12–24 months and where service can form an important ongoing part of the customer relationship.
You need to understand long-cycle, consultative B2B selling and how to maintain momentum, relationships and commercial visibility across an extended sales cycle.
You will bring discipline to the entire commercial process — from identifying and qualifying opportunities through to relationship development, pipeline management, forecasting, proposals, conversion and ongoing service.
You will establish rigour around:
- Sales strategy, execution,
revenue and margin performance
- Business development and major project opportunities
- Pipeline quality, value, stage, timing and future revenue visibility
- CRM discipline, data integrity and forecasting
- Key account development and strategic customer relationships
- Weekly and monthly sales rhythms, accountability and agreed actions
- Coaching and development of the sales team
- Marketing aligned directly to commercial priorities and growth
An established CRM is already in place. You will ensure it becomes a genuine commercial management tool that drives visibility, decision-making and action. MARKETING THAT BUILDS AUTHORITY AND CREATES OPPORTUNITY
Marketing is an important part of this mandate.
This is not marketing for marketing's sake.
Marketing needs to support the commercial strategy, strengthen the organisation's market position and create meaningful opportunities for the sales team.
You will provide direction and leadership to ensure the business is clearly positioned in its chosen markets, known for its expertise and specialist knowledge, visible to existing and prospective customers and generating and nurturing meaningful commercial opportunities.
Sales and marketing should operate as one commercial engine — not two separate functions.
Marketing creates visibility, credibility and opportunity.
Sales converts that opportunity through expertise, relationships, discipline and consistent follow-through.
BUILD RELATIONSHIPS. BUILD EXPERTISE.
This organisation operates in markets where customers value expertise, credibility, technical knowledge and trusted relationships.
This is not transactional selling.
Customers need people who understand their challenges, ask intelligent questions and can provide credible advice around the right solution.
You will help position the business and its people as trusted experts in their field.
The goal is to build a market position where customers don't simply know the company name — they know who to turn to when they need expertise and advice.
THE LEADER WE ARE LOOKING FOR
How you lead will matter just as much as what you have achieved.
The organisation's values are grounded in Honesty, Humility and Ownership.
We are looking for a leader who demonstrates those values in practice.
Someone prepared to have courageous conversations, who puts team before ego, brings confidence without arrogance, takes ownership and is willing to be practical and hands-on when it matters.
As a family-owned business, you will also need to be comfortable working closely and constructively with the CEO, Senior Leadership Team and shareholders while bringing your own commercial experience, perspective and leadership to the table.
MOST IMPORTANTLY — YOU'VE DONE THIS BEFORE
We're interested in evidence, not theory.
You will be able to demonstrate where you have previously:
- Led, coached and developed a successful B2B sales team
- Created clarity, accountability and a disciplined sales culture
- Lifted sales capability, revenue and margin performance
- Managed complex project sales and long-cycle opportunities
- Worked in an environment where service is an important part of the customer relationship
- Built and managed a substantial qualified pipeline with strong CRM and forecasting discipline
- Developed significant customer and stakeholder relationships
- Led marketing as part of an integrated commercial growth strategy
- Built market presence, authority and commercial opportunity
- Turned strategy into action and action into measurable results
THE OPPORTUNITY This is an opportunity to join a successful Australian organisation at an important point in its evolution.
The foundations are there.
Now the business wants an experienced commercial leader who can bring the leadership, discipline, clarity, market positioning and accountability required to execute a significant growth agenda.
Robust people.
Strong relationships.
Solid market presence.
Strong pipeline.
Transparent priorities.
Accurate information.
Disciplined execution.
Accountability for outcomes.
Strong growth.
If you've built that environment before, we'd like to talk to you.
