We are seeking an experienced Trade Controls Specialist to lead trade compliance, export controls and regulatory assurance activities within a sophisticated and highly regulated operational environment. This position plays a key role in ensuring compliance with ITAR, EAR and Australian export control regulations while supporting business operations and risk management.
Responsibilities
- Provide advice on trade compliance requirements for bids, projects, commercial activities and international transactions.
- Manage export licences, approvals and regulatory submissions, including engagement with Australian and international stakeholders.
- Oversee customs compliance, import/export activities and relationships with external customs and logistics providers.
- Conduct compliance reviews, internal audits and trade control assurance activities, maintaining risk registers and reporting findings.
- Maintain trade compliance records, licence documentation and reporting frameworks to support regulatory compliance and business operations.
- Develop and deliver training, monitor regulatory changes and provide guidance to stakeholders across the business.
What We're Looking For
- Demonstrated experience with ITAR,
EAR and Australian export control or trade compliance regulations.
- Experience supporting or managing export licences, regulatory approvals and engagement with relevant authorities.
- Strong understanding of customs requirements, import/export processes and customs broker management.
- Experience conducting compliance audits, assurance activities, risk assessments and legislative interpretation.
- Ability to influence stakeholders, deliver training and communicate complex regulatory requirements effectively.
- Australian citizenship and ability to obtain or hold an Australian Defence security clearance. Experience with Technical Assistance Agreements, US export licensing systems, or qualifications in Business, Commerce or Law will be highly regarded.
