We have an exciting current opportunity available to work alongside our Veterinary Oncology registrar – Dr Felicity McGovern to provide care to a range of Oncology patients. This role mixes clinical skills, patient care and client communication all in one. Learn what it takes to follow an Oncology patient from diagnostics and staging to a targeted treatment plan. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

- Admitting and discharging Oncology patients
- Performing pre-GA safety check list.
- Perform basic physical examinations including TPR
- Collect and run bloodwork
- Assist with consultations
- Prepare for sedation and anaesthesia
- Monitoring procedures including staging, sampling and treatments
- Calculating,



preparing and administering chemotherapy medications
- Understand the importance of accurate chemotherapy dosing and steps taken to prevent or manage incorrect dose administration
- Providing a safe and positive experience to patients
- Running and maintaining a clinical setting
- Maintain department stock levels
- Nursing and management of oncology in patients
- Handover inpatients to relevant departments when needed
- Follow infection control and policies
- Understand and follow workplace safety protocols for the safe handling and administration of cytotoxic chemotherapy and treated pets
- Identify and manage chemotherapy extravasation injury
- Support whole hospital approach

To be considered for this role, you will need to demonstrate:

- Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent (required)
- Ideally a minimum of 1 year specialty experience
- Available to work 8am – 6pm shifts
- Ability to balance clinical work with administrative responsibilities
- Organised, proactive, and confident managing shifting priorities
