Role Description The Optometrist will perform comprehensive eye examinations, including vision testing, ocular health assessments, and diagnostic screenings. Day-to-day responsibilities include prescribing corrective lenses, recommending treatment options, and co-managing eye conditions with other healthcare professionals when required. The role involves educating patients on eye health, contact lens care, and preventive measures, while maintaining accurate clinical records and complying with relevant professional standards.

The Optometrist will work closely with optical dispensers and support staff to ensure a smooth patient journey from examination to eyewear selection.



This is a full-time, on-site role based in Geelong, VIC, requiring consistent presence in the clinic and active participation in practice operations.

Qualifications

- Relevant tertiary qualification in Optometry and current registration (or eligibility for registration) with the appropriate professional board or regulatory body.
- Demonstrated clinical skills in comprehensive eye examinations, diagnosis of ocular conditions, and prescription of lenses and treatments.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to explain clinical findings clearly and build trust with patients from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team, contributing to a positive, inclusive, and respectful workplace.
- Attention to detail and strong record-keeping skills to ensure accurate documentation and compliance with clinical and regulatory standards.
- Comfort with modern optometric equipment and practice management systems; willingness to learn new technologies and workflows.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in optometry and eye care.
- Experience in a community or retail optometry setting is beneficial, along with an interest in long-term patient relationships and continuity of care.
