Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Optometrist role based in Merrylands, NSW. The Optometrist will perform comprehensive eye examinations, including refraction, binocular vision assessments, and ocular health evaluations, using up-to-date diagnostic equipment.

The role involves recommending appropriate optical solutions, prescribing spectacles or contact lenses, and co-managing patients with ophthalmologists and other healthcare providers when required. The Optometrist will maintain accurate clinical records, support the store team with clinical guidance, and contribute to a positive, inclusive customer experience.



Participation in ongoing professional development and adherence to Specsavers’ clinical and safety standards are key aspects of the role.

Qualifications

- Relevant tertiary qualification in optometry and current registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Optometry Board of Australia.
- Strong clinical skills in refraction, ocular health assessment, and contact lens fitting, with a commitment to evidence-based practice.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to explain clinical findings clearly and build trust with diverse patients and colleagues.
- Ability to work effectively in a busy retail clinical environment, collaborating with optical dispensers and support staff to deliver coordinated care.
- Attention to detail in record-keeping, time management, and adherence to clinical protocols, infection control, and regulatory requirements.
- Willingness to engage in continuous learning, including CPD activities, new technologies, and evolving clinical guidelines.
- Prior experience in community or retail optometry is an advantage, though new graduates with strong clinical potential are encouraged to apply.
