Glenelg Community Hospital is a not-for-profit organisation located in the seaside suburb of Glenelg South. The Hospital is fully licensed and includes inpatient rooms, day surgery facilities, two operating theatres and a procedure room. We provide planned day and short-stay elective surgical services to the local community in a welcoming and patient-centred setting.

Our specialties include orthopaedics, including joint replacements, ophthalmology, plastic, reconstructive and cosmetic surgery, oral surgery and gastroenterology.

- Morning and afternoon shifts

- Monday-Friday, no weekends

- 15-25 hours per week

About the role

As an Orderly, you will provide practical support across clinical areas including Theatre, Recovery, the Day Surgery Unit and the inpatient ward. You will assist with patient transport, manual handling, equipment transport and general support duties to help keep hospital services running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

- Safely transport patients throughout the hospital, including between Theatre, the Day Surgery Unit, Recovery, the ward and discharge areas

- Assist clinical staff with patient transfers, mobility support and manual handling tasks

- Assist nursing staff with preparing the Operating Room for procedures

- Prepare and clean patient beds, remove used linen and dispose of waste in line with infection control procedures

- Move equipment, beds and supplies safely between clinical areas

- Support Theatre, Ward and Day Surgery Unit operations as required

- Maintain clean, safe, well-stocked and organised work areas

- Work closely with Coordinators, nursing staff, supplies staff and other team members

- Participate in relevant staff meetings, education programs and ongoing training

- Follow hospital policies,



procedures and legislative requirements, including WHS and infection control practices

- Be able to support other areas of the hospital, if required

About you

- Previous experience in a healthcare environment and maintenance is desirable, not essential

- Display a willingness & flexible approach to work requirements and change in work practices

- Have the ability to work on your own initiative and identify any areas for improvement that may be needed

- Current Working with Children Check, National Police Check and up to date with Immunisations is required
