As our business continues to service a regular customer base, we are seeking a reliable and experienced Cook to join our team on a full-time basis.

About the Role

The Cook will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of menu items in accordance with established recipes, menu requirements, quality standards, and food safety procedures. The successful candidate will work as part of the kitchen team to ensure food is prepared efficiently, consistently, and to a high standard during busy service periods.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare, season, and cook a variety of meals and dishes in accordance with established recipes and menu requirements.
Prepare ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling, cutting, chopping, slicing, portioning, and marinating.
Follow recipes and established preparation methods to maintain consistency in taste, quality, and presentation.
Operate commercial kitchen equipment, including grills, ovens, fryers, stovetops,



and other cooking appliances, safely and efficiently.
Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure food is cooked correctly and in accordance with food safety requirements.
Prepare and plate meals according to menu specifications and service requirements.
Check the quality and freshness of ingredients before use and appropriately store unused ingredients.
Maintain appropriate food storage practices, including the use of temperature-controlled facilities.
Assist with the preparation of sauces, dressings, marinades, salads, sides, and other menu components.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen work areas, cooking equipment, utensils, and storage areas.
Follow food safety, hygiene, health, and workplace safety procedures at all times.
Assist with receiving, checking, unpacking, and storing food and kitchen supplies.
Monitor ingredient and stock levels and advise management when supplies need replenishment.
Minimise food wastage by following appropriate preparation, storage, and portioning procedures.
Work cooperatively with other kitchen staff to ensure food is prepared and served efficiently during busy periods.

Skills and Experience

Relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery, such as Certificate III or IV, or at least 3 years of relevant experience as a Cook.
Previous experience working as a Cook in a commercial kitchen environment.
Sound knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and food safety requirements.
Ability to prepare and cook a variety of dishes consistently and efficiently.
Ability to work effectively under pressure in a busy café environment.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Reliable, punctual, and well organised.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.

Salary

$77,500 – $80,000 per annum + superannuation, depending on experience and skills.
