Are you an experienced Fitter with rope-access qualifications or relevant rope-access experience?

n

Our client is seeking skilled Fitters to join its specialist team, delivering welding, installation, maintenance and repair services in challenging industrial environments across Queensland and New South Wales.

n

Successful candidates will be based in, or willing to relocate to, Rockhampton and must be available to travel to project sites as required.

About the role n

As a Fitter, you will be responsible for joining, repairing and maintaining metal components and structures using appropriate Fitting processes. Some work will be undertaken at heights using rope-access techniques.

- Interpret engineering drawings, technical plans and specifications to determine installation, assembly and maintenance requirements.
n
- Assemble, fit and align mechanical components, equipment and machinery to required standards and tolerances.
n
- Inspect completed work using precision measuring instruments to ensure accuracy, fit and compliance with specifications.
n
- Set up and operate workshop machinery and tooling to fabricate, modify and repair mechanical parts.
n
- Cut, shape, drill, grind and machine metal components for maintenance and production purposes.
n
- Install, maintain and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including associated pipework and fittings.
n
- Diagnose mechanical faults, perform troubleshooting and implement effective repair solutions.
n
- Carry out preventative maintenance,



equipment overhauls and component replacements to minimise downtime.
n
- Assist with the installation, commissioning and relocation of machinery and plant equipment on-site.
n
- Complete maintenance records and ensure all work is performed in accordance with workplace health and safety requirements.

Skills and experience n

To be considered for this position, you should have:

n

n
- Relevant trade qualification like Certificate III in Engineering‑ Mechanical Trade (Fitting/Machining), or equivalent.
n
- Proven experience in the assembly, installation, maintenance and repair of industrial machinery and mechanical equipment.
n
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics and technical specifications.
n
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
n
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, workshop machinery and precision measuring equipment.
n
- Sound fault-finding, diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
n
- Ability to work to strict tolerances while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
n
- Robust understanding of workplace health and safety practices.
n
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
n
- Positive communication, organisational and record-keeping skills.
n

n

Relevant welding certifications or tickets, additional high-risk work licences, confined-space certification, working-at-heights training or rescue qualifications will be highly regarded.

n
