About the role

This position is responsible for supporting and contributing to the work of the Carers NSW Policy Team by undertaking research, consultation, policy analysis and systemic advocacy in relation to issues affecting carers.

This is a fixed term contract position to 30 June 2027.

Key responsibilities

- Undertake relevant policy work in accordance with the annual Carers NSW Business Plan

- Undertake research and policy analysis on issues affecting carers as required

- Liaise with various government and non-government organisations to ensure that carers are considered in policy development and program delivery

- Coordinate and facilitate consultations and focus groups with carers and service providers to inform policy development and program delivery

- Develop and contribute to policy submissions,



conference presentations and articles for journals and other publications on carers and Carers NSW programs

- Prepare information on carer policy and programs for the Carers NSW website and Carers NSW publications

- Represent Carers NSW in advisory bodies and other forums as required

- Collect and collate data regarding the effectiveness of the project

- Provide reports on progress of the project

- Comply with Carers NSW Policies and Procedures and all other legislative requirements

About you

- Qualifications in Social or Political Science, Public Health or other relevant areas

- Understanding of NSW and Australian Government policy development

- Demonstrated skills in preparing reports and other documents to a high standard

- Proven track record in liaising and building effective relationships with government, non-government and community organisations

- Demonstrated ability to represent Carers NSW policy positions and to speak publicly

- Demonstrated research skills, including the ability to collate data and formulate policy statements and responses to sector inquiries

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Excellent computer skills

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

- Desirable: Relevant experience working in ageing, disability, health, mental health or carer related areas
