As a Portfolio Analyst or Senior Portfolio Analyst - Investment Innovation and Capability, you'll play a key role in advancing the use of AI, machine learning and advanced analytics across our investment function.

We're recruiting for two separate positions within Portfolio Intelligence:

Portfolio Analyst - suited to an analytically minded professional looking to develop their expertise in investment analytics, machine learning and emerging technologies while working alongside experienced investment, data and technology specialists.

Senior Portfolio Analyst - suited to an experienced analytics professional who can independently design and deliver analytical solutions, apply machine learning techniques in an investment context and help uplift capability across the team.

In either role, you'll sit at the intersection of investments, data and technology, contributing to innovative solutions that enhance investment research, portfolio monitoring and decision-making. You'll work closely with investment professionals, data engineers and technology teams to explore new data sources, develop analytical tools, build automated workflows and help embed emerging technologies across the investment lifecycle.

For the Senior Portfolio Analyst opportunity, you'll also take ownership of more complex analytical initiatives, provide technical leadership and mentor less experienced team members.

These roles are permanent opportunities and can be based in Brisbane or Sydney.

Responsibilities

Day to day, you'll:

- Support or lead the development of analytics solutions that enhance investment research, portfolio monitoring and decision-making.
- Apply AI and machine learning techniques including NLP, predictive modelling and alternative data analysis.
- Work with investment stakeholders to translate business challenges into practical data-driven solutions.




- Contribute to machine-assisted research capabilities including signal identification, idea screening and data exploration.
- Build, test and enhance automated and agent-enabled workflows.
- Identify and evaluate new data sources, analytical methodologies and emerging AI technologies.
- Collaborate with data engineering and technology teams to develop scalable analytical solutions and data pipelines.
- Translate complex analytical outputs into clear visualisations, insights and recommendations.
- Contribute to governance, testing, documentation and continuous improvement activities.
- Partner with stakeholders across investments, data and technology to support adoption of innovative capabilities.
- Mentor and support junior team members if applying for the Senior Portfolio Analyst opportunity.
- Contribute to best practices for AI, machine learning and analytics within Portfolio Intelligence.

Qualifications

It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:

- You hold a degree in Finance, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline.
- Your experience includes data analysis, quantitative methods or analytics within investments, financial services or another data-rich environment.
- You'll have working knowledge or advanced proficiency in Python, SQL or similar analytical tools.
- You're interested in, or experienced with, applying machine learning and advanced analytics to real-world problems.
- You have an interest in or strong understanding of financial markets, asset classes and investment processes.
- Your background includes working with structured and unstructured data, including alternative data sources.
- You'll be capable of contributing to analytical projects or independently delivering end-to-end solutions depending on your level of experience.
- You're able to communicate technical concepts clearly and translate analytical outputs into business insights.




- You have experience or a strong interest in AI and machine learning techniques such as NLP, predictive modelling and related technologies.
- Your experience may include cloud and data platforms such as Snowflake, Azure or similar environments.
- You'll be interested in emerging technologies including agentic workflows, automation and AI-enabled decision support.
- You're able to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative and evolving environment.

The Portfolio Analyst role will suit candidates looking to build their capability in investment analytics and AI, while the Senior Portfolio Analyst role will suit candidates with demonstrated experience designing and delivering analytical solutions in an investment, financial services or similarly data-rich environment.
