About the Opportunity

Harrison Infrastructure Group is looking for a full-time Principal Civil Designer/Engineer, ideally based in Toowoomba. For the right candidate, this role could also be based from HIG's Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Bundaberg or Rockhampton offices.

Reporting to the Toowoomba Office Manager, this role has arisen from continued growth in HIG's workload, as well as the planned retirement of a senior team member in February next year. While not a formal team leadership position, you will play a hands-on role in mentoring junior staff and may take on project management responsibilities across a variety of projects within the business.

Project work is broad and varied,



and may include road design, subdivision design and civil infrastructure design more generally, depending on your background and experience.

More specifically, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

- Scoping and estimating civil design projects
- Preparing civil designs and producing detailed project design documentation
- Leading the design and documentation of civil infrastructure projects, including road and subdivision design
- Assigning tasks and priorities to design and technical staff to ensure project requirements are met
- Managing and coordinating subconsultants
- Maintaining regular client engagement and managing stakeholder expectations
- Tracking project budgets and forecasting and reporting on project expenditure
- Mentoring junior team members to build their technical capability
- Taking on project management responsibilities as required across projects within the business

About You To be considered for this role, you will need:

- An Associate Diploma in Civil Engineering (minimum)
- 15+ years' experience in civil design, covering urban/rural roads, traffic and/or hydraulics
- Australian citizenship
- A proven ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities across multiple projects
- Strong client-facing and stakeholder engagement experience
- Experience mentoring or sharing knowledge with junior staff

The following skills and experience will also be highly regarded, though are not essential:





- Experience working on TMR (Transport and Main Roads) projects
- Land development/subdivision design experience
- High-level proficiency in 12d software (experience with Civil 3D will also be considered)
- Working knowledge of Austroads, TMR and local authority design standards; Water Services Association (WSA) experience is a plus
