About the Role:

As the Principal Education Officer – Student Services, you will provide strategic leadership, advice and capability development to strengthen access, participation and outcomes for students with disability.

Working across schools and regional teams, you will support leaders to translate departmental priorities, policy and evidence-informed practice into sustainable school-based systems and practices. A key focus of the role will be building the capability of school leaders and staff to confidently lead inclusive practice, make effective use of available resources and respond to increasingly complex student and school contexts.

In this role, you will:

- Build the capability of school and regional staff to strengthen inclusive, evidence-informed practice for students with disability.
- Provide high-level strategic advice to senior officers, school leaders and school teams to improve access, participation and educational outcomes.




- Coach and support school leaders, including HOSES, to develop their skilled knowledge, leadership capability and confidence in leading inclusive education.
- Work alongside schools to review and strengthen systems and practices, identifying barriers to participation and supporting sustainable improvement.
- Support school leaders to strategically manage human, financial, curriculum and facilities resources to strengthen inclusive practice.
- Work collaboratively across regional and multidisciplinary teams to develop coordinated responses to complex student, school and systemic needs.
- Build productive relationships with school and regional stakeholders, using strong communication, consultation and influencing skills to support culture and practice change.
- Support schools to strengthen and quality assure NCCD processes, with a focus on reasonable adjustments, evidence, monitoring and alignment with departmental policy and guidelines.
- Analyse information and emerging trends to identify opportunities for proactive regional support and capability development.
- Model a strengths-based, collaborative approach that builds school ownership and capability rather than dependency on regional support.





We are looking for someone who can: Build trusted relationships while providing appropriate challenge; work strategically across complex systems; translate policy and evidence into practical action; and influence sustainable changes in leadership, systems and classroom practice.

You will bring strong knowledge of inclusive education and disability, demonstrated capability in coaching and developing others, and the ability to work collaboratively across professional disciplines and organisational boundaries.

Most importantly, you will understand that access and participation are created through the quality of the systems, leadership and everyday practices surrounding students — and you will have the capability to help schools strengthen them.
