Purpose of the job
The Procurement Officer will support successful supplier relationships, identify opportunities for improvement, support strategic procurement activities and participate in, and leverage support from, global procurement activities in the pursuit of an optimal procurement portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Check all purchase requisitions (PR) are filled out correctly and entered into the purchase register.
- Raise purchase orders (PO) in an accurate and timely manner.
- Follow-up POs with suppliers until closed.
- Follow-up with internal stakeholders on PO status where POs are not closed, and invoices.
- Support the sourcing of goods and services to achieve optimum value.
- Support the Procurement function to achieve business goals.
- Contribute to a culture of long-term savings on procurement costs and spend control.
- Support the management of supplier contracts.
- Track, report and deliver improvement of key performance indicators (KPI) including purchase price variance (PPV) and key expense account spend variance.
- Regular monitoring and reporting of cost, quality and consumption of various procurement portfolios including raw materials, packaging, spare parts and consumables.
- Adhere to effective price and quality negotiations including the use of a tender process where appropriate.
- Provide high-quality data for procurement recommendations and decisions.

Experience
- Use of an enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform.
- Highly desirable: experience or exposure to accounts receivable functions including invoice reconciliation, payment query resolution and troubleshooting accounting discrepancies.
